The Dark 'Block'

The Dark room was home to the photographer/Camera Artist, Herbert Ponting. Scott wanted all scientific finds documented. He also wanted to make a film after the expedition was over to make a profit from the journey. After Scott had died on the way back from the South Pole, Ponting went home where he shared these images with the public and eventually made a film.

It was also thanks to Ponting that this product could be made. His images are accessible on online archives or by visiting the archives in person.
